Phil Parkey
Biography
Mr. Parkey is the President and Tonal Director for Parkey OrganBuilders of Duluth, GA. Mr. Parkey began his career in 1989 and worked through his apprenticeship until 1994. In 1995, Parkey Organbuilders was established in the Atlanta area providing new instruments, restorations, service and tuning work for the Southeastern United States. He has been involved with nearly 70 complete instrument installations in his career ranging from installation to design and tonal finishing. Parkey OrganBuilders is currently building Opus 8 and 9 for Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee in addition to completing numerous restorations and major projects throughout the Southeast.
Mr. Parkey holds a BS Degree in Management and Administration with a minor in economics and accounting from University of North Carolina at Asheville. He studied piano at an early age progressing to organ study during his college career. Mr. Parkey has been an active choir member with All Souls Episcopal Cathedral Asheville, NC and St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church Atlanta, GA. He served at the past President for the Metropolitan Choral Arts Society of Atlanta and held position as Board Member, Sub-Dean and Dean for the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
